The Chilean mussel industry has experienced remarkable growth over the last 20 years. In a relatively short time, Chile has become the 2nd largest producer and largest mussel exporter in the world. The combination of unique natural conditions, product attributes, and pro aquaculture regulation allowed the industry to grow 20 fold from 20kMT in year 2000 to over 400,000MT last year.

Samsetning einstakra náttúrulegra aðstæðna, eiginleika afurða og reglugerða sem styðja fiskeldi gerði greininni kleift að tvífaldast úr 20 þúsund tonnum árið 2000 í yfir 400.000 tonn á síðasta ári.
