Mikill vöxtur hefur verið í sjókvíaeldi á Ísland undanfarin ár. Af umhverfisástæðum eru eldisfyrirtækin staðsett á Austfjörðum og Vestfjörðum. Eldisfyrirtækin standa frammi fyrir mörgum áskorunum, en ef vel tekst til, gæti laxeldi orðið ein af megin stoðum íslensks atvinnulífs og útflutnings.

Salmon farming have been growing fast in last decade in Iceland. For environmental reasons, the farming is in the East og Iceland and on the Westfjords. Farming companies face many challenges, but if successful, salmon farming could become one of the main pillars of Icelandic economy and exports.
