Aquaculture will have a great potential for Icelandic economy in the future. Production in sea pens have been exploding for last decade and seem to have grate growth potential in coming years. For land-based production Iceland seem to have natural competitive advantage in the world, plenty of fresh water, warm salty water, and green energy. Iceland could become the leader in future land-based farming in the world. Same goes for algae production where the energy is an important competitive factor. Offshore farming and land-based farming will though be an important factor in future success.
