When fish farms are operated it is of vital importance to monitor any changes in environmental conditions. In the talk we will give and overview of longitudinal analysis of benthic ecosystem dynamics spanning two decades in Icelandic salmon farming areas. This overview as gathered from numerous public reports. The questions we aim at bringing up and seek answers to are:
- Whether today monitoring methods are enough to control environmental impact?
- Do we need to improve or increase the dialogue between authorities and those doing the monitoring work and research to secure the best possible outcome?
