This year’s conference will focus on some of the most pressing issues and opportunities in modern aquaculture, with six main themes:
- Sustainability in Modern Aquaculture Sessions will explore how environmental, economic and social sustainability can be integrated into everyday operations.
- Key Challenges for a Growing Aquaculture Sector As global demand for seafood rises, speakers will address issues such as biosecurity, fish health and welfare, and regulatory frameworks that must evolve to support sustainable growth.
- Future Directions – Diversification Beyond Salmon The programme will highlight the potential of new and alternative species and examine how diversification can reduce risk and strengthen food security.
- Public Opinion and Social Sustainability in Aquaculture With aquaculture increasingly in the public eye, this theme will look at community relations, transparency, licensing and coastal space use, as well as how to build trust and maintain a strong social licence to operate.
- Emerging Technologies in Aquaculture Production Experts will present advances in digitalisation, automation, genetics, feed innovation, closed and offshore systems, and other technologies that can improve efficiency, resilience and environmental performance.
- From Production to Market – Strategic Marketing in Modern Aquaculture This track will examine market trends, branding, traceability, certification, and how to communicate sustainability and product quality to consumers and buyers around the world.
Hosted in Harpa, overlooking Reykjavík’s harbour, Aqua Ice offers a unique platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange and networking in one of the world’s leading countries in sustainable fisheries and aquaculture innovation.
